Purpose of Policy

Applicability
This policy applies to all Faculty, Staff, departments, and colleges of the university.
Responsibilities
UPD, in conjunction with the Function of Technology, Physical Institute Services and Auxiliary Services, is responsible for realization and assimilation of the policy including advising departments on appropriate applications of surveillance technologies and for providing technical help to departments preparing proposals for the purchase and installation of security photographic camera systems.
THE SOC shall monitor developments in the law and in security industry practices and applied science to ensure that photographic camera surveillance is consequent with best practices and complies with all federal and state laws. The SOC will review proposals and recommendations for camera installations and examine specific photographic camera locations to determine that the perimeter of view of fixed location cameras conforms to this policy.
Campus Bill of fare Operations will coordinate almanac updates to the policy and any revisions put along by the SOC. This will include an annual inventory of all cameras.
Responsibilities of Surveillance Oversight Committee (SOC)
The SOC will be responsible for reviewing and approving or denying all proposals for security camera equipment recommended by the Director of University Constabulary. The SOC shall suggest to the Vice President for Administration and Finance appropriate changes to this policy equally needed.
The SOC shall be comprised of eight members:

- Provost/Vice President for Bookish Affairs
- Faculty Representative – President of the Faculty Senate
- Manager of Ecology Health and Safety
- Student Representative – SGA Principal Justice
Responsibilities for Review of External Requests for Records Release
UPD will review all external requests to release records obtained through security camera surveillance. UPD will seek consultation with appropriate administrative offices prior to the release of whatever records.
Scope
This policy applies to all personnel, departments, and colleges of Southeastern Louisiana University in the utilize of security cameras and their video monitoring and recording systems. Security cameras may be approved to be installed in locations where the security and rubber of either property and/or persons would exist enhanced.
